Ghent, Viva L'Anarchia!

On 19 October a part of the Flemish town of Ghent became an autonomous zone. Everywhere on the streets activists against capitalism partied, at least 20,000. A Pink and Green street parade of a 1000 anarchists and eco-activists managed to outsmart the police and blockade a ring-road for a short while.

The 'Rhythms of Resistance' samba band was only seperated by a canal from the conference centre, where EU heads of state chatted about more military violence, sealing off Fortress Europe from immigrants and other such scheming.

Media coverage was low. Apparantly they are only interested in a riot, not a party. But for us it was fabulous!
